(IRNA) - Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi on Monday said that negotiations were the only solution to Iran's nuclear dispute.
Italy's ANSA news agency on Monday quoted Prodi as saying this while speaking to Egyptian `Al-Ahram' newspaper in an interview, reports Trend.
He said possible resort to military options would be unimaginable, adding imposing sanctions against Iran would deteriorate situation.
He stated that based on an understanding, the sides could review issues of importance to Iranians including a security structure which would bring more stability to the region, adding the structure would urge Iran to adopt a firm stance against extremist and terrorist moves.
The Italian premier said Iran has no need for military nuclear program in order to be recognized as a regional power.
He stressed that the US President George W Bush would listen to recommendations on resumption of talks with Iran and Syria on Iraq.
