Iran expects 50% increase in steel export

Iran’s steel exports is expected to experience a rise by 50 percent during the current Iranian fiscal year (to end on March 2017), Abdolmajid Sharifi, managing director of the National Iranian Steel Company (NISCO), said.

He forecasted that the Islamic Republic’s steel export would reach 6 million tons compared to export of 4.1 million tons of crude steel and steel products, the Iranian Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry’s SHATA news website reported.

Sharifi further said that Iran’s steel output is expected to stand at 18 million tons in 2016.

Iran is planed to export 15 million tons of steel by 2025, Sharifi added.

The country exported about six million tons of steel ingots and products over the first eight months of the current fiscal year (started March 20, 2016).

Iran’s output of crude steel would reach 55 million tons by 2025.
