Imports value of essential goods to Iran revealed

According to recent statistics on foreign trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), 9.130 million tons of essential goods were imported to the country in the first half of the Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Tasnim News Agency reported.

In terms of weight, the imports of essential goods accounted for 56 percent of all imports of Iran.

All imports of Iran in the first half of the year amounted to 16.220 million tons worth $22.182 billion. The share of essential goods in this volume amounted to 9.130 million tons worth $4.676 billion.

The volume of essential goods accounts for 21 percent of all imports of Iran. However, compared to the same period last year, the share of essential goods was 20 percent.

Corn, rice, oilseeds, medicines, oils, meat, soybean, barley, fertilizers, sugar, powdered sugar and wheat are the main products imported in the six months. Corn, oilseeds, meat and barley were imported more than other products.
