Some 56,600 tons of tea leaves have been purchased from tea growers in Iran, chairman of the Iran Tea Organization Habib Jahansaz said.
Some 47,700 tons of the first grade tea and 8,870 tons of the second grade tea were purchased, Jahansaz added, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Agriculture News Agency (IANA).
He said that 1.1 trillion rials (about $26.1 million) were paid to tea growers.
Jahansaz said that 112,000 tons of tea were purchased from tea growers last Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018). Some 115,000-120,000 tons of tea are expected to be purchased this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019).
The Iranian government issued the loans worth 610 billion rials (about $14.5 million) to the tea growers through the National Currency Fund since 2014 till mid-March 2019 to develop tea growing in Iran.
