Public budget of Azerbaijan (January-April 2012)

In January-April 2012, the public budget income comprised 5.386.5 billion manat, or 32.4 percent of GDP. It increased by 33.1 percent compared to the same period of 2011.

Public budget expenses rose by 37.9 percent and made up 3.894.5 billon manat (23.4 percent of the GDP). The surplus of the budget totaled 1.492 million (9 percent of GDP).

In the revenue structure, 41.5 percent (2.237 billion manat) was provided by the Tax Ministry. Revenues from customs duties and taxes totaled 353.2 million manat (with weight of 6.6 percent) from other sources is 2.796.3 billion manat (51.9 percent).

A total of 679.9 million manat was obtained from VAT, or 12.6 percent of all income, 1.032.4 billion manat (19.2 percent) - profit taxes, 242.5 million manat (4.5 percent) - income taxes, 162 million manat (3 percent) - excise taxes, 39.8 million manat (0.7 percent)- property taxes, 9.3 million manat (0.2 percent) - land taxes, 43.8 million manat (0.8 percent) - subsoil tax and 232.7 million manat (4.3 percent) -taxes from foreign economic activities.

The public budget expenses for social security and provision of people comprised 614.9 million manat (15.8 percent), 340,9 million manat (8.7 percent) was spent on education, 127.4 million manat (3.3 percent) - health, 64.1 million manat (1.6 percent) - maintenance of prosecutor bodies, security and law-enforcement and court bodies, 1.568 billion manat (40.3 percent)- investment allocations, 71.8 million manat (1.8 percent) - housing and communal services, 102.1 million manat (2.6 percent) - agriculture, fishing, 1.319.8 billion manat (33.9 percent)- industry, construction, and prospecting of minerals, and 18.4 million manat (0.5 percent) transport and communications.
