President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with Executive Vice President of Space Systems in the Airbus Defense and Space Division Nicolas Chamussy in Paris, France. Long-term successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Airbus was hailed at the meeting. They particularly exchanged views on cooperation in making advanced satellites.

They pointed out the successful financing of different projects between Azerbaijan and Credit Agricole SA, adding that many projects have already been complete.
Credit Agricole SA’s contribution to funding the Southern Gas Corridor Project was noted at the meeting. Credit Agricole SA’s cooperation with the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic was praised as good. The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the non-oil sector, particularly the implementation of different projects in the field of agriculture and diversification of economy.

Azerbaijan invites Ukrainian businessmen to invest in agro-parks
Azerbaijan invites Ukrainian entrepreneurs to invest in its industrial and agricultural parks, said Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev at a meeting with the Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman in Kiev. Also, an Azerbaijan-Ukraine business forum was held with the organizational support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine, Azerbaijan Export and Investments Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the end of the business forum, AZPROMO and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan signed memorandums of cooperation with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Israeli envoy mulls co-op, investments in Azerbaijan’s districts
Israel’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Dan Stav visited Azerbaijan’s Khachmaz, Shabran and Khizi districts, the Israeli Embassy said.
The diplomat met with heads of the local executive authorities.
The sides discussed possibilities for cooperation and investments in economy, agriculture and tourism.
The envoy also visited plants operating in Khachmaz and Shabran.
During the visit to Shabran, he noted that Israeli private sector can invest in the district’s agro-parks.

Azerbaijan expects non-oil exports to grow over 8% in 2017
Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry expects the real GDP growth of the country in 2017 at the level of one percent, Director of the Institute for Scientific Research on Economic Reforms of the country’s Economy Ministry Vilayat Valiyev said in Baku at the sixth annual conference of the Fitch Ratings international rating agency for the investment community of Azerbaijan.
“The share of the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan’s GDP will grow 2.5 percent and amount to 67.9 percent, according to forecasts,” Valiyev said. “The share of the non-oil exports of Azerbaijan’s GDP is projected to grow 8.4 percent.”
He said that the ministry also forecasts real growth of Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector by 4.9 percent. “This is due to the continuation of state support to the sector,” Valiyev said. “In total, 13 programs were prepared to support silkworm breeding, cotton growing, tobacco growing, production of tea, hazelnut, etc. We also forecast a 7.6 percent increase in production and services sphere, including the sectors of tourism and trade. This is related to the simplification of the visa regime, as well as the use of the Tax Free system.”
The representative of Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry noted that a 2.9 percent growth of the transport sector is also forecasted in 2017, and this is related to the implementation of the North-South and the East-West transport corridor projects.
In addition, a 6.7 percent growth is expected in the communications and information sphere, and a 2.2 percent growth is projected in the sphere of social and other services in Azerbaijan, Valiyev added.
