American Institute of Public Opinion to hold exit poll and survey in Armenia

Armenia TV channel and the American Institute of Public Opinion agreed to hold social surveys and exit polls in Armenia on the parliamentary elections, news.am reported.

Director General of Armenia TV David Avetisyan and chairman of the American Institute of Public Opinion Kancho Stoichev signed an agreement on Tuesday.

According to Stoichev, the survey will be held throughout the state and results announced till Apr. 27, while the exit poll on the very day of the elections. Inaccuracy in results may make 1-2%, which will not influence major parties, it may be a problem for smaller ones.

Armenian's Central Electoral Commission stopped accepting nominations of parties and blocks for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia at 6 pm on March 22.

Eight political parties and one block have presented their nominations - Republican Party of Armenian, Prosperous Armenia Party, Orinats Yerkir, opposition Armenian National Congress, opposition Heritage Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the Communist Party of Armenia, Democratic Party of Armenia and United Armenians Party.

For entering the National Assembly, parties must poll over 5% of votes, while blocks - over 7%.

The election campaign will be held till May 5 - the day prior to elections when campaigning is banned. The parliamentary elections will be held from 8 am to 8 pm on May 6, 2012.
