Education in Native Language of Georgians living in Gal Region is Complicated: Knut Vollebek

Georgia, Tbilisi / corr. Trend N. Kirtskhalia/ The education in their native language of Georgians living in the Gal region is complicated, Knut Vollebek, the OSCE high Commissioner on Human Rights, who visted Abkhazia said to journalists.

Vollebek paid a two-day visit to Skhumi and held meetings with officials of the break-away Abkhazia. He also travelled to the Gal region of Abkhazia where Georgians make up the majority.

"This is my second visit to Abkhazia. We discussed the protection of human righsts and education problems with Azkhaz officials ," said Vollebek. He said that he had discussed education of Georgians in native language as well.

"Everybody has a right to receive education in their native language, but there are problems in this regard in Abkhazia, I belive we can solve this problem by means of bilateral discussions," said Vollebek.
