Georgia shares data on coal imports from Kazakhstan

Georgia’s coal and coal products imports from Kazakhstan in January 2022 amounted to $146,160, which is an increase of 337.7 percent, compared to $33,390 in December 2021, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of coal and coal products imports from Kazakhstan in January 2022 also increased 189.9 by percent, compared to December 2021 - from 208 tons to 603 tons.

The value of Georgia’s coal and coal products imports from Kazakhstan in the reporting period of 2022 also increased by 277.4 percent, compared to $38,720 over the same month of 2020, while the volume increased by 77.8 percent (339 tons in January 2020).

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan did not export coal and coal products to Georgia in January 2021.

Thus, Kazakhstan ranked second among main coal and coal products importers to Georgia in January 2022, following after Turkey ($216,711), while Russia ranked third ($55,770).

Georgia’s total coal and coal products import value in January 2022 amounted to $437,090, which is a decrease of 50.2 percent, compared to $877,980 over the same period of 2021, and 43.7 percent, compared to January 2020 ($776,480).
