Georgia’s presidenti to Meet Putin, as CIS Summit Opens in St. Petersburg

( Civil Georgia) - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on June 9, the Georgian leader's press office reported.

Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili said the fact that meeting will be held is positive in itself, but added he did not expect "any special results" from these talks.

Saakashvili who will leave for St. Petersburg on Saturday will attend an informal summit of leaders from the Commonwealth of Independent States which opens on June 10.

The Georgian President also plans to meet his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov on a sideline of the summit.
