International peace envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi arrived Thursday in the Syrian capital Damascus, for talks with government officials and the opposition, according to his spokesman Ahmed Fawzy, dpa reported.
Brahimi is accompanied by Mokhtar Lamani, who will remain in Damascus to assume his new post as head of the Office of the Joint Special Representative for Syria, added Fawzy.
