Israel Materials 22 January 2008 18:28 (UTC +04:00)

Israel, Jerusalem / Trend corr. R.Abadullayev / According to information distributed by the newspaper Jerusalem Post, referring to western resources, the reason for the delay in launching the Israeli TecSar spy-satellite was active sabotage by Iran. The satellite was planned to be launched in August 2007, NEWSRU reports.

TecSar, launched from the Indian Srikharikota space centre on 21 January, carries modern equipment on board, and was developed by Israeli Defense companies. The current satellite is able to operate in all weather conditions day and night. Furthermore, the satellite has a high capacity and is more reliable.

The launch of the Israeli satellite meant that the Shavit rocket-carrier had a range of technical difficulties. An agreement to launch the satellite from the Indian space centre was reached by Israel and India three years ago. Another two Israeli satellites are expected to be launched from the territory of India.

The launch of the new satellite significantly expands the capacity of Israel in the sphere of information, especially concerning the Iranian nuclear program. The Indian government postponed the launch of the satellite several times for different reasons.

Before, the Israeli media, referring to Israeli resources, informed that the reason for the delay of the satellite was pressure from the United States. However, the Jerusalem Post informed that the Islamic Republic attempted to interrupt the launch of the satellite by imposing pressure on the Indian opposition.

According to a representative of the defense structure of a Western country, the Iranians are afraid of the possibility of the new Israeli satellite and made every effort in preventing its launch.
