( dpa ) - Twelve militant Palestinians have escaped from a prison in the West Bank town of Nablus, reports said Saturday.

The prisoners staged the prison break overnight and are believed to be members of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, the armed wing of President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement.

It is believed the prisoners blew open the prison gates with hand grenades.

The same group staged an escape at the end of February, but gave themselves up shortly afterwards.
