Honduran police seized a small plane with 1,400 kilograms of cocaine in the northwest department of Colon, local media reported Sunday, dpa reported.

Radio HRN quoted an unnamed officer of the drug enforcement bureau as identifying the plane as a twin-engine Cessna 441 registered in Venezuela.

Colon is one of the Honduran zones utilized for transporting illegal drugs by air, sea and land from South America to markets in the north, especially the United States.

On January 8, another Venezuela-registered plane was seized on the nearby Caribbean island of Utila with 1,500 kilograms of cocaine.
