Poland's newly inaugurated President Bronislaw Komorowski opened on Sunday a memorable plaque in Warsaw Military Cathedral to commemorate the victims of Lech Kaczynski's plane crash in western Russia, RIA Novosti reported.

The memorable plaque was placed in the cathedral's Katyn chapel. The plaque bears the names of all the people who died in the crash. There is also a box to the left of the plaque with the earth from the site of the plane crash.

A Soviet-made TU-154 carrying a top-level delegation hit the top of trees as it attempted to land at an airport near Smolensk on April 10 in thick fog, killing all 96 people on board.

The Polish leader and other top government officials were en route to a ceremony in Katyn to pay tribute to some 20,000 Polish officers killed by Soviet secret police during World War Two.
