Sergey Mironov, the leader of the Russian reformist political party A Just Russia, announced Saturday that he will step down from party leadership to allow others in the party to gather leadership experience ahead of polls planned for December, DPA reported.

Mironov named his successor as Nikolai Levichev. Mironov said he will distance himself from the day-to-day management in order to lead the party's campaign for the upcoming December parliamentary elections.

The chairmanship of A Just Russia also is to change every four years, he said, stating that in doing so, the party would be the first in Russia to abide by a "democratic system of rotation."
