An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale rattled the Greek holiday island of Crete on Thursday, but no damage or injuries were immediately reported, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.
The epicentre was located in the sea north-east of the island between Crete and the popular island of Santorini, DPA reported.
Residents on Crete reportedly rushed out of their homes in panic as the quake hit at 6:24 am (0424 GMT). It was also felt throughout the islands of Dodedannese, the Cyclades and as far away as the Peloponnese on mainland Greece.
