Mercedes is showcasing at the China Motor Show a four-door CLS coupe based on the A-Class that will also come onto the market in a Shooting Brake version, according to a report in Germany's Auto Bild newspaper.

Mercedes is showcasing at the China Motor Show a four-door CLS coupe based on the A-Class that will also come onto the market in a Shooting Brake version, according to a report in Germany's Auto Bild newspaper.

The "baby" coupe version will probably be named the CLA and fitted with the 4Matric all-wheel drive, panoramic roof and smartphone connection, the report said, DPA reported.

A top of the range 350 hp CLA 25 AMG with a dynamic chassis system is also in the planning. The basic 122 hp CLA variant is expected to sell for about 28,000 euros (38,850 dollars).

Serial production is scheduled for 2013 with a CLA Shooting Brake or station wagon version planned for 2014, the report said.
