Yesterday a deadly blast occured in Afghanistan, as a liquid-gas reservoir exploded on the Kabul-Calalabad highway, IRIB News reported.

Dozens of gas cylinders exploded as the fire spread through the facility on July 4, possibly caused by an electrical short circuit.

Kabul's police chief Eyyub Falangi said that 16 people were reported dead (two of them foreigners) and 150 more were injured.

As a result of the massive explosion factories near the liquid-gas reservoir got burned as well. It was the second incident of its kind this week in Kabul.

On July 3, a market caught fire following a gas-cylinder explosion, killing three people and injuring almost 30.

Falangi noted that the firefighters were only able to distinquish the fire early Thursday. He added that investigation on the incident is underway.
