Nigerian police confirmed on Friday that a lawmaker from the state assembly of Kaduna has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen, Trend reports citing Xinhua.
Kaduna police's spokesman Yakubu Sabo told Xinhua that the state lawmaker, Suleiman Dabo, was abducted on Thursday while travelling along the Kaduna-Zaria road in the northern state.
Police operatives on patrol found and recovered the victim's car by the roadside after receiving a distress call about his kidnap, Sabo said.
The incident is the second involving state lawmakers in the country within one week.
According to reports by local media, one state lawmaker of Sokoto, a state in northwestern Nigeria, was kidnapped last Thursday by gunmen.
Sabo said the police are currently combing the bush for possible rescue of Dabo and arrest the criminals.
