498 kg of heroin seized in southern Turkey

Turkish security forces confiscated 498 kg of heroin in southern Turkey on Tuesday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
  
The heroin was found hidden in sacks in a truck for transporting dried beans in Adana province, said the report, adding that two suspects were detained in connection with the illicit drugs, Xinhua reported.
  
In other operations, Turkish security forces seized a total of 25.6 kg of hashish in a car and a train in the provinces of Kocaeli and Malatya on Monday, reported Anatolia.
  
Turkey is a key transit route for smuggling drugs from Asia and the Middle East to markets in western Europe.
