The European Union on Tuesday condemned the terrorist attack on a military patrol in the Tokat province in northeastern Turkey, killing seven Turkish soldiers and injured several others on Monday, Xinhua reported.
"The EU hopes that the perpetrators will be brought to justice as soon as possible, and reaffirms its full support to Turkey in the fight against terrorism," said a statement issued by Sweden, the current rotating Presidency of the EU.
"The EU would like to express its sorrow at the loss of life and offers its condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers and to the Turkish people," said the statement.
The EU also hopes that this terrorist attack will not deter the Turkish Government from pursuing the democratic opening initiative.
