Turkey faced such obstacles, that are not faced by any candidate country for EU membership, Turkey's EU Chief Negotiator, State Minister Egemen Bagıs said in his speech on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the start of negotiations, Anadolu news agency reports.
"Negotiations are practically suspended because of political intrigue, with which none of candidate country for EU membership has faced," Bagıs said.
According to him, from 1995 Turkey was able to negotiate only 13 of 33 chapters and 17 chapters remain blocked because of political considerations of the opposite side."Our goal is to resume the negotiations, but it's not the last and the main goal. The main goal is full membership in the EU," Bagis said.
