Forty-nine-year-old Azerbaijani citizen Bakir Galibov, who intended to join the rebels in Syria, was detained in Ankara, the Turkish NTV TV channel reported August 12.

Forty-nine-year-old Azerbaijani citizen Bakir Galibov, who intended to join the rebels in Syria, was detained in Ankara, the Turkish NTV TV channel reported August 12.

Galibov was detained at the Ankara Esenboga Airport.

Today, the detainee will be deported to Azerbaijan.

Previously, Turkey deported more than 2,000 foreign militants from 75 countries as part of the fight against terrorist groups.

The anti-government rallies began in Syria in March 2011. Later the protests in Syria escalated into a civil war. The country's territory became vulnerable to various terrorist groups. The Islamic State terrorist organization penetrated the territory of Syria in 2013.
