The Turkish population increased by 1.193 million people and reached 82.3 million people in 2018 compared to 2017, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Statistical Institute on Feb. 1.
In 2018, 50.2 percent of the Turkish population accounted for men, 49.8 percent - women.
Moreover, 7.7 percent of the Turkish population lives in villages, 92.3 percent in cities.
"In 2018, 18.4 percent of the Turkish population lives in Istanbul," the Turkish Statistical Institute said.
