Turkey unveils 2M2021 data on freight, passenger traffic through Ankara Esenboga Airport

As many as 11,672 tons of cargo were transported through Turkey’s Ankara Esenboga Airport from January through February 2021, which is 49 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.­­­­

According to the ministry, in the reporting month, the country’s domestic flights transported 9,622 tons of cargo, showing a 36-percent decrease over the year.

At the same time, 2,050 tons of cargo were transported through Ankara Esenboga Airport by international flights, which is a plunge by 75 percent year-on-year, the ministry said.

The Esenboga Airport served 1.1 million passengers in the first 2 months of this year, which is 57 percent less compared to the same period of 2020.

Over 1 million passengers were served on domestic flights over the reporting period, while a year earlier this indicator was 53 percent more.

As reported, 94,419 passengers were served on international flights, down 77 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, 11,148 flights were carried out through Esenboga Airport, which is a decrease of 43 percent.

In the reporting period, 9,753 flights were carried out on domestic flights, which is a decrease of 39 percent year on year.

International flights via Esenboga Airport shrank by 63 percent over the year, amounting to 1,395 flights.

During the reporting period, 373,201 tons of cargo were transported through all airports in the country.
