Italian Steel firm Danieli is ready to help Iran to decrease energy and water consumption in its steel industry, Stefan Berger, Executive Vice President at Danieli Wean United, said.

Iran’s steel industry suffers from shortage and high price of water and Danieli plans to transfer new steel producing technology to Iran to decrease water consumption, Berger said, Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported Feb. 19.

Cheap energy, rich reserves of iron ore and convenient geographic position provides good conditions for the production of steel in Iran, Berger said, adding that his company is interested to send observers and engineers to Iran to cooperate with Iranian firms and transfer technical knowledge.

Following the removal of international sanctions on Iran in January 2016, Danieli signed agreements related to a joint venture and orders for the supply of machinery and plants to be installed in Iran, worth approximately 5.7 billion euros.

Last April the company also signed an agreement worth 350 million euro with Butia Iranian Steel Company (BISCO) for cooperation in construction of a steel company with 1.5 million tons output capacity.
