Azerbaijan and Afghanistan discussed the military and political situation in the region, as well as the security issues.
Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov received a delegation led by Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Zarar Ahmad Osmani on March 19, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry told Trend.
Hasanov pointed out that the military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan is built on friendly relations and these relations which are beneficial for both of the parties develop permanently.
The guest emphasized the necessity of such meetings for strengthening the relations between the two countries. Osmani stressed the contribution of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to the ISAF operations. Afghan foreign minister evaluated the allocation of $1 million by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the Afghanistan National Army Trust Fund as a contribution to restoration of peace and stability in the country.
Afterwards, the parties exchanged views on the issues related to the military and political situation, as well as security in the region and pointed out that the relations between the two countries in combating threats will continue.
