Baku, Azerbaijan, August 5
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi.
The head of state said the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are successfully developing.
President Ilham Aliyev recalled with pleasure his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran and his meetings with the Iranian leaders, noting that the visit gave a new push to the expansion of the bilateral relations.
Saying the two countries maintain good cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and other areas, the head of state expressed confidence that the issues to be discussed at the next meeting of the State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran will contribute to the strengthening of this cooperation.
President Ilham Aliyev said he believes that the visit of Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi to Azerbaijan will be a success.
Minister Mahmoud Vaezi extended greetings on behalf of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani to the head of state. He said that President Hassan Rouhani recalled with pleasure his meetings with the Azerbaijani President in Davos and Tehran.
Mahmoud Vaezi paid tribute to national leader Heydar Aliyev, recalling his meetings with him during the previous visits to Azerbaijan.
"I congratulate you as Azerbaijan has made great achievements. I would also like to congratulate the people of Azerbaijan as they have such a wise and far-sighted leader, who is doing great works for his country," Mahmoud Vaezi said.
The parties discussed prospects for the development of relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields, including energy, transport, oil transportation, shipbuilding, trade, banking sector, science, and sport.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani and asked Mahmoud Vaezi to communicate his greetings to the Iranian head of state.
