By Zulfiyya Kurbanova - Trend:

Millikart Azerbaijani processing center will launch contactless payment cards of two international systems - Visa and MasterCard, executive director of the Millikart Group processing center Jalal Orujov told Trend Aug. 29.

The launch of payment cards is planned before the end of fall, he said.

"The exact launch date is not revealed yet, because there are some issues that do not depend on us," he added. "But we hope that it will be possible before the end of fall," Orujov noted.
Azericard, another processing center of Azerbaijan in early summer said that it is completely ready for issuing and acquiring of Visa payWave and MasterCard PayPass contactless cards.

The issue of cards is expected before the end of the year, and these products will appear in many Azerbaijani banks, Trend was told earlier by the center.

Contactless payment technology of Visa International and MasterCard international payment systems allows instant payment for purchases and services via POS-terminals. It is sufficient for payWave and PayPass card holders to bring the card to the POS-terminals equipped with contactless payment technology reception.

Emission of cards and installation of POS-terminals will be implemented via the banks. Cards can be used only for small payments (payment in fast foods, restaurants, shops). Cash limit on cards will be determined by the bank. For the implementation of large-value payments basic authentication standard is required.

Purchase payments by payWave and PayPass cards will be available in retail outlets both domestically and abroad.

Currently, POS-terminals equipped with the technology of payWave, PayPass contactless payments have already been installed in a number of retail facilities of the capital. Terminals that accept contactless payments are marked by Visa payWave and MasterCard PayPass logos.
