The issue of initiating a direct flight to the Tajik city of Khujand was discussed in Tabriz, the Iranian news agency Fars reported Nov. 18.

The discussions were held during the meeting of Khujand mayor Abdurrahman Ghadiri and members of the Chamber of Commerce of East Azerbaijan Province.

At the meeting, Ghadiri said that the investment conditions were created in the Sughd free economic zone and privileges were delivered to the foreign investors. The tax exemption for a long period is among them.

"Around 10 special exhibitions of Iranian products have been organized in the Sughd free economic zone and Khujand since 2007," he said. "The investors from the US, Turkey, China and Iran made huge investments in this area."

"This economic zone has a potential for investments in agriculture, industry and fields," he said. "At present, companies from the US and Canada are investing in these areas."
