Energy operator: Snowstorm in Baku do not cause serious problems in power supply system

Snowy weather in Baku has not caused serious problems in the activity of JSC "Bakielektrikshebeke" (electricity distribution and sale in Baku), Bakielektrikshebeke spokesman Tanriverdi Mustafayev told Trend on Wednesday.

"The situation with electricity distribution in Baku is normal," Mustafayev said.

He said demand for electricity increased in these days is fully met.

"Due to bad weather conditions in the recent days, demand for electricity has grown by half," he said.

Mustafayev urged people to call the hotline "199" if any problem emerges with power supply.

He said "Bakielektrikshebeke" operates in the intensified work regime.

Severe snowstorm began in Baku in early Wednesday morning.

As the Bureau of Hydro-meteorological Forecasts of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry told Trend earlier, frost will rise within the day.

On Feb.8, 3 - 5 degrees below zero, as well as snowstorm will be observed within the day.

On the night of Feb.8 the minimum temperature in Baku is expected at 6-10 degrees below zero.

It will snow in the Azerbaijani regions until early morning hours on Feb.9.
