Chinese company to establish aluminum plant in Iran

Chinese company, NFC, will establish an aluminum plant in Iran.

Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation, known as IMIDRO, reported that the Jonoob Aluminum Plant will be established in the southern province of Fars with an annual production capacity of 300,000 metric tons, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on Feb. 28.

The project will be financed by Iranian investment companies.

Iran exported 88.4 thousand metric tons of aluminum, worth $155.1 million, in the first seven months of the current Iranian fiscal year, started on March 21, 2014.

Aluminum exports accounted for 0.8 percent of Iran's non-oil exports in the mentioned period of time.

Over 262,900 metric tons of aluminum ingots were produced in Iran in the first nine months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21 - Dec. 22, 2014). The figure is 2000 metric tons more than the projected output for the period, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said.

Arak Aluminum company with 135,413 metric tons production was the biggest producers of aluminum ingot in Iran in the mentioned period, followed by Almahdi Aluminium Company with 72,966 metric tons and Hormozal Aluminum Company with 54,565 metric tons of production.

The country's aluminum ingots output stood at 30,280 metric tons in the 9th Iranian calendar month (Nov. 21-Dec-22, 2104). About 188,956 metric tons of alumina powder as well as 321,225 metric tons of aluminum hydrate also produced in the country during the 9-month period.
