By Khalid Kazimov - Trend:

Despite the removal of international sanctions, two or three Iranian banks are still in the sanctions list, the governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), Valiollah Seif, has announced.

Although international sanctions on most of Iranian banks have been removed, at least two banks are still banned and we hope the problem will be lifted soon, Eghtesadonline website quoted Seif as saying at a meeting with Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Kazimir, in Tehran.

Seif, however, didn't elaborate which banks are still being kept in the sanctions list.

In a joint statement on Jan. 16, the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced the implementation of the JCPOA, aka nuclear deal, and the removal of economic sanctions on Iran. According to the statement, EU confirmed that legal framework, providing for lifting of its nuclear-related economic and financial sanctions, is effective.

During the meeting, Seif also called for the expansion of banking ties between Iran and Slovakia, and suggested organizing a delegation to pave the way for expansion of the ties.

He urged the Slovak banks to establish branches in Iran and purchase parts of Iranian banks' stocks.

In turn, Peter Kazimir pledged to pass the suggestions to Slovak officials once he returns to his country.
