By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Head of an Iranian private airline has been sued for not paying debts to the country's airports and Iran Aviation Company (IAC), Gholamhossein Bagherian, member of the IAC’s board of directors, said.

An arrest warrant is issued for detention of managing director of Aseman airline company, Bagherian said, the IAC’s official website reported.

So far various meetings have been hold with airlines that are in debt to the IAC, but certain airlines refuse to pay their debts.

Bagherian expressed hope that the issued arrest warrant will serve as an example to other airlines, that still have debts to the IAC. He said hopefully, they will be paid as soon as possible.

Iranian airlines owe some 7 trillion rials (about $228.8 million based on official rate of 30,589 rials per each USD) to the IAC.

In April Rahmatollah Mahabadi, the IAC head said that four Iranian airlines have been sued for not paying their debts.

“We are going to freeze public services to these companies and will ask people not to use these airlines’ services,” he warned.
