Iran, Italy hold joint scientific commission meeting

Italy’s Ministrer of Education, Universities, and Research Valeria Fedeli has said that her country is interested in scientific cooperation with Iran in the areas of economy, environment, and social pathology.

In a meeting with her Iranian counterpart Mohammad Farhadi in their first joint scientific commission in Tehran, Fedeli said Iran and Italy have signed 112 university agreements, Trend correspondent reported from the event April 19.

“Our aim with [the agreements] is to engage in international transfer of academic systems in the area of new-generation technology,” the Italian minister said.

Farhadi, for his part, said that Iran-Italy scientific cooperation started last September following exchange of visits between Iranian and Italian heads of state.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran announces its preparedness to engage in cooperation with Italian universities in all fields,” he stressed.

The meeting of the two sides started with a joint statement which stressed bilateral intention for scientific cooperation.

Fedeli is leading a delegation of 150 university professors and staff to Iran.
