Iran's ex-President Mahmoud Ahmadienjad left Tehran in route to Turkey on Feb.26 to take part in a ceremony honoring Turkey's late Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan, INSA reported Feb. 26.

Iran's Foreign Ministry says his trip is "completely personal".

Marzieh Afkham, spokeswoman of Iran's Foreign Ministry told ISNA that Ahmadinejad's visit to Turkey is not an official visit and the ministry hasn't coordinated the trip. ISNA says Erbekan's son (Fatih), who serves as the head of Erbakan Foundation, extended the invitation to Ahmadienjad.
