A narrow format meeting of the Council of the heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) member states took place in the Congress at the Hallat Ala-Archa State House in Kyrgyzstan on Friday, the Kyrgyz president's press service said.
Delegations from all SCO member states which arrived in Bishkek, attended the meeting under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev.
According to the report the Kyrgyz president welcomed his colleagues in a speech and noted that important issues concerning various aspects of cooperation within the organisation will be discussed during SCO Bishkek summit.
"I am confident that our current work will be fruitful and productive," Atambayev said.
During the high level meeting, the heads of the state discussed the summit's agenda, a list of documents were prepared for signing and also planned the venue of the next meeting.
In addition, the Kyrgyz president wished success to the Tajikistan Republic, as well as its President Emomali Rahmon in the upcoming SCO chairmanship.
Russian president Vladimir Putin, Chinese president Xi Jinping, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon are attending the SCO summit.
In addition, the heads of the SCO observer states: Afghan President Hamid Karzay, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj as well as the Indian Foreign Minister and Pakistani Foreign Affairs Advisor will participate.
