Tehran, Iran, July 5
By Milad Fashtami - Trend:
Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Marzieh Afkham said that her country supports the unity and integrity of its neighbour, Iraq.
"We are sure that the Iraqi nation will never allow their country to be disintegrated," IRNA news agency quoted Afkham as saying on July 5.
She further rejected recent calls for the disintegration of Iraq, saying Iraq's constitution has the capacity to meet the demands of all people.
"Iraqi people are vigilant and attach great importance to national unity," she said.
Afkham's remarks come as the leader of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Massoud Barzani urged the local parliament to set a date for a referendum on independence from Iraq.
