UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that it is a task for the international community to return peace and stability in Syria, as the Syrian nation deserves it, Interfax reported.
Speaking before students at St Petersburg State University, the UN Secretary General noted that he hopes to discuss the Syrian issue at the G-20 summit in the Northern capital on September 5-6.
The Secretary General called for a solution to the Syrian problem via political means: "Only political settlement, not armed conflict will return peace to the country and to save human lives".
Ban Ki-moon also called for the acceleration of the convening of an international conference and for it to be held it in October.
