Preliminary results of ‘Future - Insurance’ program summed up in Azerbaijan

The participants in the ‘Future is Insurance’ program in Azerbaijan received the certificates, Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

The campaign entitled ‘Future is Insurance’ jointly organized by the Volunteers School of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (ASAN) and the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan as part of the “Volunteer-Insurers (2019–2021)” project is being carried out to implement the action plan for the development of the insurance sector, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 21, 2019.

The program envisages gaining experience in the insurance sphere and practical skills in the field of insurance by volunteers working in ASAN service centers, as well as raising awareness of the population in this sphere.

The volunteers participating in the program first attend a two-week training course which is conducted by insurance specialists and instructors of ASAN and then work at ASAN service centers in Baku.

The main kinds of activity of the volunteers are public awareness in the insurance sector, growing public interest in insurance and conducting public opinion polls in the field of insurance.

To date, more than 80 ASAN volunteers, split into two groups, have conducted more than 16,000 surveys within this program and contributed to raising awareness of citizens in the field of insurance.

The certificates were delivered to ASAN volunteers participating in the "Future is Insurance" Campaign.

Another group of insurance volunteers will operate in the Azerbaijani districts.

In total, the Azerbaijani insurance companies collected insurance premiums in the amount of 111.5 million manat ($65.5 million) in January 2020, which is 23.3 million manat ($13.7 million) or 26.4 percent more than in January 2019.

In general, insurance companies of Azerbaijan collected insurance premiums in the amount of 681.1 million manat ($400.6 million) in 2019, which is 46.7 million manat ($27.4 million) or 6.4 percent less than in 2018 and paid insurance claims in the amount of 301.5 million manat ($177.3 million), which is 61.2 million manat ($36 million) or 25.4 percent more than in 2018.

Today, 22 insurance companies and one reinsurance company operate in Azerbaijan.
