The Russian embassy in Baku has today commented the information disseminated by media that the embassy delivered a protest note to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in connection with an incident with Independent Newspaper journalist M. Fatullayev in Baku.
Spokesperson for the embassy Alina Zolotareva told Trend that the embassy delivered a note to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry with a request to clarify the reasons of banning Russian citizen M.Fatullayev to arrive in Azerbaijan. Fatullayev had valid documents to enter the territory of Azerbaijan, but he was deported to Russia.
"The word "protest" was not mentioned in the note," she said.
She added that the embassy expects the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry to rapidly response to the note.
Earlier, the media reported that the Russian Embassy in Baku delivered a note of protest to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in connection with an incident with Russian Independent Newspaper journalist Milrad Fatullayev at the Heydar Aliyev airport.
Independent Newspaper commentator Fatullayev was detained at the Heydar Aliyev airport in Baku on March 31 night and then deported.
