Azerbaijani embassy in Egypt is clarifying whether there were citizens of Azerbaijan among the passengers of the Russian plane that crashed in Egypt Oct.31, the embassy told Trend.

Azerbaijani foreign ministry instructed the Azerbaijani embassies in the Russian Federation and Egypt to find out about the issue from the formal structures, the head of the press service of the foreign ministry of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev told Trend.

Kolavia Flight 7K9268, an Airbus A321, went off radar 23 minutes after taking off from Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport. The crash site was discovered hours later in a desolate mountainous area of central Sinai, Egypt's aviation ministry reported.

All passengers and crewmembers are presumed to have been killed in the crash, Egyptian sources said.

The Russian embassy in Egypt is finding out all the circumstances regarding the incident. The Egyptian side has sent rescuers to the crash site. Russian Emergency Situations Ministry will hold an emergency meeting of the working group of the government commission, three aircrafts are ready to fly to Egypt, said the ministry. Cairo said about the introduction of emergency situation in Sinai in connection with the crash of the Russian plane.
