Heydar Aliyev’s Foundation enters int’l arena вЂ" President of Fund

“Heydar Aliyev’s Foundation enters an international arena,” Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of the Foundation, the Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, stated on Friday in a ceremony of signing of a project document on provision of access of the blind and weak-sighted people to information-communications technologies (ICT)” between Heydar Aliyev Foundation and UNDP

According to Aliyeva, thus far the Foundation has carried out has carried out several programs directed at the resolution of social problems of children and people in need of care, such as �Life without Talassemia’, �Care of diabetic-children’, �Development of Orphanages and Board-schools’, �New School for renewed Azerbaijan.’

Aliyeva voiced his hope that the cooperation with the UNDP, commenced with the new project, will be successful and assist in the resolution of problems of people of this category. “There are 320,000 disabled peopled in the country, including around 40,00 blind and weak sighted people,” said she, expressing her hope that the project would help to get adapted to real life.

In his turn, UN Resident coordinator in Azerbaijan, Marko Borsotti, who undersigned the project document on behalf of this international organization, noted the positive efforts by the Azerbaijani government for the implementation �Declaration of Millennium’. Borsotti voiced his confidence Azerbaijan would become a good example for other countries, while the cooperation between the UNDP and Heydar Aliyev Foundation will be successful.
