Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan Interested in Developing Its Thorough Cooperation with Belarus
Azerbaijan is interested in developing its thorough cooperation with Belarus, Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijani President said during the extended-format meeting with Byelorussian President Alexander Lukashenka, being held in Minsk today, Trend reports referring to Belta.
Our economies are developing dynamically; our industrial potential is increasing as well. All that naturally create prerequisites for a more active economic cooperation, said Ilham Aliyev. He agreed with Alexander Lukashenka that the existing commodity turn-over between the two countries in absolute figures cannot satisfy the both parties. The Azerbaijani President expressed his confidence that a significant increase in the indicator of the mutual trade will take place after his visit to Belarus, and signing of document will create a good legal basis for bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as determine further perspectives of their development. We would like to see our cooperation on a long-term basis, and all the involved bodies should approach to their responsibilities correspondingly, underlined Mr. Aliyev.
According to the President, mutual trust is a basis of any cooperation. Today, it exists between our countries, told the Head of the Azerbaijani State. At the same time, he added that the forthcoming opening of the Byelorussian Embassy in Baku and the Azerbaijani diplomatic representative office in Minsk is evidence of that importance. Both parties agreed regarding the development of their bilateral relations. The diplomatic representative offices are also an efficient mechanism on determining new spheres of cooperation, Mr. Aliyev pointed out.
According to the President, the economics of Belarus and Azerbaijan might successfully supplement each other. What Belarus produces, Azerbaijan needs today. What our country produces is of a great interest to your country", -Mr. Aliyev said. According to the President, cooperation between the two countries in energy, oil and gas spheres, establishment of new enterprises, as well as in agriculture "are all directions of practical significance. The Azerbaijani President with satisfaction pointed out that decisions on development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation will be put into force immediately.
The head of the Azerbaijan State once more invited Byelorussian President Alexander Lukashenka to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan at any time convenient to him, and continue the dialogue that will become a more active and that meets the interests of both countries and nations.
