Arm Injury Not Enables Azerbaijani Boxer to Gain Gold Medal in Beijing Olympic Games

Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 August / Trend corr. R.Ergun / Azerbaijani boxer Shahin Imranov, who gained a bronze medal in the Beijing Olympic Games, believes that he could fight in the semi-final if he did not get arm injury. "I have had this injury for a long time. Despite this, I fought. However, later I understood that I could not continue my performance because of arm injury," Imranov returning from Beijing told Trend on 25 August.

Samir Mammadov represented Azerbaijan on boxing in the Beijing Olympic Games besides Imranov. Mammadov losing at the first stages of the competition had to finish his performance.

Imranov could not continue fight with French boxer Hedafi Chelhir because of arm injury.

After it, the Azerbaijani boxer was awarded with a bronze medal.

Azerbaijan gained seven medals, including one gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
