Azerbaijan, Baku, April 28 / Trend M.Aliyev /
Public and law enforcement agencies are loyal to unnecessary night noise in Azerbaijan, MP Elmira Akhundova told Trend.
She said Azerbaijan has adopted laws banning excessive noise near the residential areas at night and the Administrative Code was amended accordingly.
"But legal requirements are not followed. Pole and law enforcement agencies do not pay attention to existing requirements. One complains about their neighbor, who repairs the house at night, but even if such complaints are made, the police often leave these unattended. But in other countries if you knock a hammer they call the police. People care about their tranquility, and law enforcement authorities take appropriate measures in such cases," Akhundova said.
She believes propaganda is required in this area. "Public service announcements may be broadcasted on television channels urging people to respect each other," she sad.
The Administrative Violations Code stipulates a fine in the amount of up to 30 manat against drivers using signals that violate public tranquility.
Furthermore, Article 65 of the Code stipulates a fine in the amount of up to 100-200 manat for excess noise during production. In extreme cases, a manufacturing plant maybe even closed.
A permissible level of sound in residential areas during the daytime (7 am to 11 pm) is 40 decibels, and 30 decibels at night (11 pm to 7 am).
