Environmental issues may be a common denominator based on which it is possible to begin negotiations on achieving peace in the conflict between states, Ecology Minister of Moldova George Salaru said in an interview with Trend.

"The role of international organizations in resolving environmental issues between the conflicting sides is important. But is the role of public environmental organizations, which should make people think that air and water have no borders," said Salaru.

According to the Moldovan minister, people think less about environmental security than the military. "Any conflict situation should be completed with peace. Common sense must take up, and then we have to think about the ecological equilibrium, which is necessary for the next generation," said Salaru.

According to him, those natural resources that people have received from previous generations must be maintained and even cleaned for the future generations.

"Those, who do not think about the ecological balance, do not think about their children," said Salaru.
