A meeting of the Council of Europe (CE) Steering Committee on human rights was held in Strasbourg, Trend reports quoting AzerTAj. Murad Najafov, head of the International law and Agreements Division of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry participated in the gathering.
Participants in the gathering discussed issues on ratification of the 14th protocol by the CE Ministerial Committee on injection of changes to a control system on implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights. They noted the necessity for adoption of the protocol at the 116th meeting of the CE, to be held in Strasbourg in May 2006.
The 14th protocol has been ratified by 36 of 46 CE member-states. Najafov announced that Milli Majlis [Azerbaijan parliament] had also ratified the document.
The protocol will enact into law after the ratification by al CE member-states.
