Society Materials 5 October 2006 15:35 (UTC +04:00)

Tense relations between Russia and Georgia do not represent a danger to Azerbaijanis living in Moscow, Ilgar Hajiyev, Head of the Moscow Organization of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis told Trend today.

According to him, the local people have expressed their discontent towards the Georgians, but that does not relate to all Caucasian people. Mr. Hajiyev pointed out that Azerbaijanis living in Moscow have not been subjected to any pressure.

No complaints and appeals have been received by the Congress in this connection. Frankly speaking, the situation in Moscow cannot be considered as normal, and is not agreeable to Azerbaijanis either. Since both the countries are very close to Azerbaijan, problems between Russians and Georgians are ours too. said Mr. Haiyev.

He pointed out that the Congress controls the situation, and has shown interest toward problems of our compatriots living in Russia. However, tense relations between Georgia and Russia have not represented a danger to Azerbaijanis as yet.
